Safety equipment for cars can make teenagers better drivers

Technological progress is amazing. For example: when I was a teenager, my monitor safety by the name of "mother." She barked orders at me as I travel on the streets of Massachusetts, often above the speed limit. In the future? Computers!
At least that's what it seems, is the incredible results of a study on teen leadership and accident prevention are any indication.
The testing involved a system of IVDR (In-Vehicle Data Recorder) that monitors and records events dangerous driving, such as very sharp bends or sudden acceleration and braking too abruptly. Originally developed by GreenRoad, a San Francisco firm specializing in truck safety, the system takes this information and "evaluates" the driver. Lights green, yellow and red tell the driver how he is doing at any time.
The system sounds simplistic, but the data suggest something remarkable. In cars equipped with the system, the occurrence of dangerous driving decreased by half.
Impressive, but we imagine that the angry teenagers will still be able to claim that such meddling is not just by parents. Fortunately, there is an app for this. The system is based on accelerometers, and the software can easily be transported to smartphones, according to Per-Olof Svnesk engineer in an article in New Scientist.
